Marantz CD5005 CD Player
Better looking and better sounding than most budget run-of-the-mill CD players. The Marantz CD5005 delivers astonishingly great audio and doesn't try to be something it's not. We don't quite know how Marantz can get Hi-Fi kit to sound as good as this at such a modest outlay but with the CD5005 they're onto a clear winner.
The clever work comes with Marantz's own HDAM SA2 chipset - an internally designed circuit board that replaces the usual externally-sourced cheaper boards. This way Marantz exert 100% control on the internal design and implementation and can guarantee the very high standards with each model. Overall noise levels are massively reduced to leave you with highly-detailed, crystal clear sound.
The CD5005 still includes a couple of neat features to enable you to tweak the sound such as pitch control, headphone output with a dedicated volume control. The CD5005 also includes analogue outputs for the connection of recording equipment and to amplifiers and also a digital audio input which is useful if you wish to add a better standard of DAC in the future or linking to digital amplifiers.
The feel and look is enhanced thanks to the full metal chassis and profiled aluminium front panel to leave the CD5005 looking a little more premium than the competition and goes a long way to dissipate those hated resonances too. The Marantz CD5005 comes in two finishes; classic black or silver.

Marantz CD5005 Technologies
Marantz developed its own discrete circuit boards to replace standard IC's. These HDAM's consists of discrete surface mount components with short mirror image L/R signal paths. Those devices are doing exactly the same thing as the Op-Amps, but outperform the regular IC Op-amps dramatically in terms of the Slew Rate and reduced noise level, resulting in a much more dynamic, accurate and detailed sound. Over the years Marantz developed different types of the HDAM to improve quality and to fit to the special requirements of a product category like CD or amplifier.
Marantz products all carry the environmental logo. This logo proves the environmental way of thinking within Marantz. This does not stop with the low power consumption of all Marantz products in stand-by modus, but it also underlines the environmental way of working and producing within Marantz and the use of environmental approved components that do not contain hazardous chemical elements. As much as possible will be done to stress the environment as less as possibly can.
