40 Years of Building a Better Music Experience
Cyrus Audio 80 Series is a landmark line of full-width high-end audio components—a major shift from the brand's traditional half-width chassis design over its 40-year history.
Moving away from the iconic "shoe-box" half-width chassis that defined the brand since 1984 was a calculated, forward-looking decision.
Here is why Cyrus went full-width and what it means for the brand's future:
- Thermal Management: Modern, high-performance electronics generate significant heat. The larger full-width chassis provides vastly superior airflow and physical space for massive heatsinks. This allows the 80 PWR amplifier to safely push 200W per channel (or 300W in mono) in Class A/B configuration without thermal choking
-
Component Isolation: High-end streaming amplifiers house sensitive digital DACs, networking modules, and massive analogue power supplies under one roof. The expanded physical layout allows Cyrus engineers to physically separate these stages, drastically reducing electromagnetic interference and lowering the noise floor.
- Complex Connectivity: The back panel of a modern hub needs to accommodate balanced XLRs, multiple digital inputs, HDMI eARC, and heavy-duty speaker terminals. A half-width chassis simply ran out of physical real estate to host the premium, spaced-out connectivity audiophiles expect.
- Visual Premiumization: A larger footprint allows for a high-resolution, 5-inch full-colour TFT display. This screen is crucial for modern streaming interfaces (like displaying album artwork via BluOS), which was impossible on the narrow text-displays of legacy Cyrus gear.
